I admit, I worked all morning and into the afternoon. But one has to take a break some time, right? My daughter’s favorite thing to do in the summer when its hot out is play in the mud (which we have a lot of thanks to our moles and a little help from the water hose). I did a whole series of the end result of an hour playing in a mud bath, but this turned out to be my favorite!
I had the honor of photographing a fellow photographer’s girls the other day, and we had so much fun in the studio. Olympia can be so much fun….all those little alleyways, and fun streets to explore. Â Â I took my daughter down there for her ninth birthday photo shoot and had a blast. Â Â Everyone got a kick out of her jumping up and down with her guitar. Â We even got serenaded by someone who stopped to chat with us about his own band.
It rained and rained before their session, and right before they came the sun came out! Â These were taken on our studio property off of Steamboat Island Road. Â Love their personalities!!!
Quick sessions work great with little ones this age. Â We worked hard to grab a few great shots before they were done with me. Â Mom was thrilled with the results!

I love twilight, just after the sun has set and the sky is all aglow with beautiful colors. Â I took my daughter down to the beach next to our studio and we played around some with my studio lighting (yes, I Â brought my studio gear out to the beach) and she graced me with a few “poses” . Â Don’t you think this beautiful background with the Olympic Mountains and the setting sun on the water would make for perfect high school senior portraits? Â I do!
My family has been immensely enjoying our little backyard pool this summer, especially with this warm weather. Â I took some time yesterday and captured a few photos of my daughter swimming. Â This turned out to be my favorite. Â I can’t wait ’till tomorrow — Â going to go get this same shot at Lauren’s pool, one of my 2010 senior spokesmodels. Â Stay tuned for more images soon! Haven’t had the chance to update the blog with a few more posts of K. from her one year old session. Â The BW one with all the white was from outside in the snow. Â She wasn’t actually buried up to her waist, but kneeling down in the snow. Â We were only out for a few minutes but we had fun playing in the cold wet stuff.
This little guy was so happy and smiley! Â I really enjoyed photographing him and his brothers. Â They were so good for me! Â I’ve had such a great streak of cooperative boys lately…
These little guys were so good for me. Â Â So well behaved that I forgot I was photographing a toddler and newborn together (and trust me, that’s not an easy thing to do.) Â And the Little Bro Big Bro t-shirts were just to die for! Â Here’s a few favorites from their session:

Ok, I couldn’t wait to download my images after this session because I knew they’d be so much fun! Â Normally, around here, when it snows, my clients reschedule. Â I completely understand that. Â So when we got several inches of the fluffy white stuff, and my scheduled session with this adorable one year old went forward, I was thrilled to take her and her family outside for a few shots. Â It was the end of the session, and the snow was coming down hard so we only stayed out for a few minutes. Â But here’s a quick one of our snowy session.
I absolutely adore this age. Â Six. Â So happy and carefree. Â And this young lady fit right in. Â I loved that she totally got into the whole session. Â Â She was the perfect little model–able to follow direction so well and give me not only beautiful smiles, but those non-smiling pensive looks I so love to photograph also. Â And did I mention she had fun? Â
Oh, and I think of her as our good luck charm, because at the end of the session she asked me about our chickens and if there were any eggs in the hen house. Â So I checked for her and was rewarded with our very first Aracauna egg–a blue green egg. Â Her mom says she’s still talking about that egg. Â
When we do studio sessions, at the end, when the little ones are pretty much done with me, I like to go outside and try to get a few more. Â The change of scenery and fresh air always perk them up, and I can eke a few more shots out of them before they tell me “no more!” Â And that’s what we did here. Â These ended up being some of my favorites from the session (and the client’s).

We’ve been having fun in the studio with family portraits. Â Here’s just a few of my favorites!
Its that time of year again…..everyone is coming in for family portraits to give as gifts for the holiday season and for greeting cards. Â I got the chance to photograph this fun family two weeks ago in the studio and I was amazed how well their little ones worked with me! 
I’ve gotten the chance to photograph these two children separately over the last year or so, and was thrilled when I got the call to photograph them altogether for family portraits. Â I always love it when everyone matches so beautifully together too. Â
