July Yellowstone Trip | Olympia Family Photographer

My family and I recently took the first part of July to meander our way via I-90 to Yellowstone.   We took a few days to enjoy the drive and stopped at many places along the way.   A few of our favorites were the Kohrs-Grant National Historic Ranch and an old abandoned ghost town in the middle of nowhere in Montana.   And while we didn’t spend a lot of time in the actual Park due to some pretty painful and endless road construction, we did get to enjoy a day of driving through and took in our share of the boundless wildlife.    Here’s a few favorites from our trip:

Baby Session in the Studio | Olympia Baby and Family Photographer

I don’t know what is more my favorite, newborns or babies under a year old.   Luckily I’ve had the honor of photographing Baby “A” as a newborn and a 7 month old.   Here’s also a few from her newborn session from back in November.

Olympia Engagement Session | Olympia Family Photographer

I don’t do too many of these, but they are so much fun!   To see these two so much in love….just warms my heart!     They really wanted outdoors so we ran down to the beach by the studio—the tide was at its highest point, but we managed to get a few, and had a blast at the same time.

Downtown Olympia Shoot | Olympia Children’s Photographer

Olympia can be so much fun….all those little alleyways, and fun streets to explore.    I took my daughter down there for her ninth birthday photo shoot and had a blast.    Everyone got a kick out of her jumping up and down with her guitar.   We even got serenaded by someone who stopped to chat with us about his own band.

Rachel Class of 2010 | High School Senior Photographer, Olympia, WA

I really enjoyed getting to photograph Rachel for her Capital High School Senior Portraits.    Here’s a few favorites from the session.  We lucked out on the rain too.   At the last minute we ran down to the water (right by the studio) and spent a quick 10 minutes in the blustery cold wind.

Family of Four at Tolmie State Park | Olympia Lacey Family Photographer

We had a blast at this gorgeous location.  And while I don’t think I’ll go back there again in the morning (I like the evening light better) I did manage to find some great spots to avoid the harshness of the morning sun.   The boys were complete gems too!   Fun Fun times!

1937 Vintage Harley and Newborn

I love, absolutely love with all my heart, when my clients bring their prized possessions and sentimental belongings for me to photograph with their newborns, so imagine my excitement when this family came with their dad’s 1937 pristine Harley Davidson and side car.   The weather was gorgeous (its a good thing because I couldn’t fit the bike and sidecar in the studio together!) and the baby slept for us the whole time.   I’ll have more to post of the baby in the studio but for now, here he is with his Grampi and Harley.

The weather was perfect this fine early August evening at Tolmie State Park for this beach session.  The kids were so good, they made the session a breeze.     Thanks K. and B. for the opportunity to photograph your beautiful family!

Seafair Indian Days Pow Wow

We recently attended the 24th Annual Seafair Indian Days Pow Wow held at the Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center in Discovery Park, Seattle.   I’ve only been to one other Pow Wow and that was long time ago so to experience the rich traditions and cultural heritage of the Native Americans, well, what a treat!    The regalia (its not a “costume”) was simply amazing, and the dancing eye candy.

1 year old in the studio | Children’s Photographer in Olympia

Haven’t had the chance to update the blog with a few more posts of K. from her one year old session.   The BW one with all the white was from outside in the snow.  She wasn’t actually buried up to her waist, but kneeling down in the snow.   We were only out for a few minutes but we had fun playing in the cold wet stuff.

A Snowy Sneak Peek | Children’s Photography in Olympia, WA

Ok, I couldn’t wait to download my images after this session because I knew they’d be so much fun!   Normally, around here, when it snows, my clients reschedule.  I completely understand that.  So when we got several inches of the fluffy white stuff, and my scheduled session with this adorable one year old went forward, I was thrilled to take her and her family outside for a few shots.   It was the end of the session, and the snow was coming down hard so we only stayed out for a few minutes.   But here’s a quick one of our snowy session.
